Best Swimming Beaches in Oregon?

Yesterday I was chatting with someone who was from Australia and they asked what are the best swimming beaches in Oregon? They wanted to take their family for a little swim.......

It got me thinking, do we have good swimming beaches in Oregon? And after some thought, my answer was NOPE! Much to the disappointment of this family, I explained that the water is just to cold for swimming. In fact, most of the people I've seen in the water have wet suits on.

So instead of counting down our favorite swimming beach ( because they don't exist here in Oregon), I thought I would share OUR favorite spot for getting wet at the beach.

Best Oregon Swimming Beaches

1) Ecola Creek at Cannon Beach

Ok, so it's not the ocean BUT it is on Cannon Beach. Ecola Creek drains into to the ocean and follows the northern part of the beach. My kids find the creek water much warmer then the ocean water. In fact, if you go to Cannon Beach on a nice summer day you'll see the creek just oozing with kids. Clearly the consensus is that the creek is warmer and THE place to play in the water. It's also fairly deep in some places, so you'll need to keep a close eye on your kids, especially if they can't swim. You can also do a small 3.1 mile out and back hike if you get tired of swimming at the creek.
