Lake 22-A Dreamy WA Alpine Lake
Lake 22 is located in the North Central Cascades, East of Granite Falls. If you're looking for gorgeous scenery and stunning views of Mount Pilchuck, then Lake 22 is your answer. Read on below to find out more about this beautiful PNW family friendly adventure.

Lake 22 is a 5.4 mile heavily trafficked loop ( at least during the peak season). It offers STUNNING mountain vistas and the trail will take you past beautiful old growth forests. As you meander along, you'll pass gorgeous trickling creeks and spectacular waterfalls.
PNW mama Adria took her kids to Lake 22 last week and below is a summary of her pro's and cons on the adventure.

Pros
it’s one of the best places to beat the heat on a hot summer day.
The hiking distance ( 5.4 miles) is perfect for adventurous hiking families with lots of beautiful views and vistas along the way ( i.e wetlands, mountains, rain-forests, old growth forests, waterfalls, lakes, creeks)
The water is nice and refreshing and the memories made with your kids are priceless!
Really well maintained trails.
Cons:
There are major bugs on the trail (unless you are out on the water). You'll either need to deal with those pesky critters or use bug spay.
You'll also need to hual all your gear ( floaty's included if you want to do some adventure floating) if you're not prepared with a big pack.
Safety and other things of note:
Once you reach the lake, make sure little ones stick to the trail. There is a very interesting boulder field above that is difficult to navigate and can be quite dangerous ( i.e. large unstable boulders).
Ensure you don't block the highway when you're parking ( only park in designated areas) or you will be towed. Nothing like hiking with your kids all day to come back to NO CAR!
As this is a popular hike, it's best to get there early or you may not be able to find parking.
