Despite this trail being not too difficult, the trip to the summit is between 5-9 miles ( depending on which trail you take) so this adventure is suited for experienced hiking families. However, the trail and area is a beautiful place to explore even if you don't plan on completing the entire hike. ⠀

  • Beautiful vistas

  • Most of the trail is on beautiful and well maintained single track

  • Trail is heavily shaded

  • Not too much vertical gain

  • Trail is NOT technical ( so great for kids!)

  • Really well marked trails

  • Really amazing rock formations that kids will love exploring

  • Excellent opportunity to view exciting wildlife ( snakes, lizards, chipmunks etc)

  • A hike to the summit is fairly long and would certainly take most of your day ( especially with younger kids)

  • Can be crowded on holidays and weekends

  • There can be rattle snakes on the trail, so you'll need to be on the lookout ( though rattle snakes are usually pretty good at avoiding people).

  • Mountain Bikers also share the trail, so you'll need to also be on the lookout for fast bikes
