Stack Rock, Boise, Idaho- Review
Stack Rock near Boise, Idaho is EPIC! Located in the beautiful Boise foothills, Stack Rock is the place to go if you're looking for vistas, views and wildflowers. ⠀ ⠀
Despite this trail being not too difficult, the trip to the summit is between 5-9 miles ( depending on which trail you take) so this adventure is suited for experienced hiking families. However, the trail and area is a beautiful place to explore even if you don't plan on completing the entire hike. ⠀
PROS:
Beautiful vistas
Most of the trail is on beautiful and well maintained single track
Trail is heavily shaded
Not too much vertical gain
Trail is NOT technical ( so great for kids!)
Really well marked trails
Really amazing rock formations that kids will love exploring
Excellent opportunity to view exciting wildlife ( snakes, lizards, chipmunks etc)
CONS
A hike to the summit is fairly long and would certainly take most of your day ( especially with younger kids)
Can be crowded on holidays and weekends
There can be rattle snakes on the trail, so you'll need to be on the lookout ( though rattle snakes are usually pretty good at avoiding people).
Mountain Bikers also share the trail, so you'll need to also be on the lookout for fast bikes
